Ground Fog in the Adirondacks Just After Sunrise (Lake Champlain Region of New York)

As the day's heat radiates away at night, the heavier cooler air sinks and fills the valleys.  Often fog can form close to the ground blanketing the valleys in an impenetrable cloud. A little higher, the mountains stand amidst crystal clear skies, looking down on the valleys hidden in banks of fog.
