The waters of the Long Island Sound are almost always tranquil. As such, they are inviting to all who seek to anchor their boats against the sometimes raging Atlantic Ocean.
Nonetheless, in advancing autumn, as summer's army of warmth retreats, the strengthing forces of winter sometimes join battle in memorable clashes of the seasons. Then even the placid waters of the Long Island sound can be whipped into a fury of green and gray, as driving drops of rain pelt water and shore alike.
